Privacy Policy

The short version: Snipry collects nothing. The screenshots you snip and the text read from them are processed entirely on your own device and are never uploaded to us or anyone else. There is no account, no tracking, and no server that sees your captures.

What the extension collects

Nothing. Snipry performs OCR (image-to-text) locally in your browser using a bundled WebAssembly engine. The image you capture and the recognised text stay on your machine. Snipry requests no host permissions and transmits no user data.

What is stored, and where

Snipry keeps a few small things in your browser's extension storage. Snipry itself never sends any of them to a server:

Settings (your chosen language, and the image-enhancement and auto-copy switches) and your Pro license key — in Chrome's synced extension storage. If Chrome Sync is turned on, Chrome copies these to your other signed-in Chrome browsers through your Google account, the same way it syncs other extension settings, so Pro follows you to a new computer. With Chrome Sync off, they stay on this device. The license key is verified on your device.
Snip history (a Pro feature) — recent recognised text, in device-only storage that Chrome does not sync. You can clear or export it from the options page at any time. It is never uploaded.

Network activity

Snipry is offline-first. The only network request the extension can make is a one-time download of an optional additional-language model when you enable a non-English language in Pro. That file is a generic, public OCR model containing no personal data; it is cached on your device and used offline thereafter. The extension itself contains no analytics and phones home to no one about what you capture.

Payments and your license key

Pro is an optional one-time purchase made on our website through Stripe; we never see or store your card details. To deliver your license key, the email address you provide at checkout is used only to send you that key (via Stripe and our email provider, AWS SES). It is not used for marketing or shared with third parties.

This website

snipry.com uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that measures aggregate, anonymous page usage. It does not track you across sites and collects no personal data. The Snipry extension does not use analytics at all.

Your rights

The extension keeps what it stores in your browser, not on our servers, so there is nothing there for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf. You can clear your snip history from the options page at any time, and uninstalling the extension removes what it stored in that browser. For your purchase, or anything else, contact us and a real person will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it.
